Missionaries of The Poor

Hello KIDS!

You probably enjoy the blessings of a loving family, healthy of food and a warm bed to sleep in. However, there are millions of children just like you who need food, clothing and friends--and you can help!

The Missionaries of the Poor care for the poor all around the world. You can learn more about the places we work on our Missions page. You can help us! By learning to live a simple life, by praying for the children around the world and also by sharing your blessings with others, you can help us to serve Jesus in the poor.

YOU CAN PRAY!

As a kid, you may not be able to visit the poor or send money to those who help them, but you can surely pray for them. Here are some ideas that might help you to remember the poor in your prayers.

1. Pray that God will help us all to love the poor.
2. Pray the the poor will trust in God and not be afraid.
3. Pray for the Missionaries of the Poor, that more and more men will answer God's call to serve the poor.

You can also dedicate a decade of the Rosary to the poor when you pray with your family. Please, remember the poor.

YOU CAN GIVE!

Even as a child, there are many ways for you to share with the poor. Remember that Jesus taught us that if we know people who have nothing that we should share with them before we should try to get more for ourselves. There are many ways you and your family can share with the poor and show Jesus you love Him.

1. You can send a gift to the Missionaries of the Poor. It does not matter how much you give in dollars.
2. Your family can help at a local soup kitchen or homeless shelter, where the poor are cared for.
3. You can donate some of your clothes and toys to a local shelter to be given to poor children.

Do the MOP Brothers always wear their white robes?

Answer:
No. The Brothers often wear work clothes during the day when they are caring for the poor or doing house work at the monastery they live in.

How many MOP Brothers are there in the world?

Answer:
Over 500! God has blessed us with many new Brothers in the past few years.

Do the Missionaries of the Poor work with the Mother Theresa's Missionaries of Charity?

Answer:
Yes. The Missionaries of the Poor are friends with the Missionaries of Charity in many places and work together in caring for the poorest of the poor.
