Did you
know that the Missionaries of the Poor also provide spiritual care
for our friends and supporters around the world? We host
seasonal laity retreats at our Mt. Tabor retreat center up in the
mountains here in Jamaica.

In
2004, the Missionaries of the Poor were given 70 acres of land on a
mountaintop just outside of Kingston, Jamaica. This property
was developed into a quiet and peaceful retreat center called "Mt.
Tabor". On the mountain we can get away from the noise of the
city and enjoy silence for prayer, meditation and study.
The MOP
invites the laity to participate in our silent retreats. We
provide sleeping quarters, bathrooms and meals for the weekend,
while also leading you in spiritual talks, daily prayers,
celebration of the Mass, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the
recitation of the Holy Rosary and plenty of music! The
retreats are conducted with a spirit of silence, though
opportunities are arranged for reflection and conversation with
other visitors. Our guests routinely call the experience
inspiring and even life-changing. Come and see!
