While being still in the midst of
economic crisis, the Lord has not stopped asking us to give the poor
something to eat lest they faint on the way (cf. Mt. 15:32-38).
An increasing number of families are seeking our assistance for food
on regular basis. With our pantry shelves poorly stocked, our need
for food in reaching out to the least of our brothers and sisters in
the neighborhood is greatly needed.
Providing meals on Saturdays
We need help provide and serve hot or bag
lunches at our Monastery on Saturdays. We serve meals to over 50
persons on weekly basis. Our lunch date with the families we serve
begins at 10: am to 12:00 noon. We pray the Rosary in Spanish, sings
songs, catechize the children, and teach the youth. We then serve
lunch at around 11:15 and send the families back home with food
packages whenever possible.
Building Project
We hope to begin constructing a 25x40
Garden Pavilion Hall in honor of St. Joseph at the back of our
property. This will be a multi-purpose hall for the use of the
Brothers in promoting and encouraging others to actively
participatein our mission. A generous friend promised to provide all
the materials needed. We need help raise funds to cover labor costs
and volunteers to help us build. Contact us for more details.
Warehouse needed
For our long term operation we need a
warehouse near to where we live in order to keep food and other
items needed by our local mission and missions overseas. If you have
one or know anyone who might be of good help, do give us a call.
“Our Daily Bread”
Renee Washington who lives in Salisbury, NC is in charge of “our
daily bread.” She is in need of volunteers providing weekly grocery
for the brothers. She can be reached at washington.renee@att.net.
