"A CHILD IS THE GREATEST GIFT
THAT GOD GIVES"

On Monday April 11, 2011, Sr. Melanie and I
along with the three Brothers (Bro. John Paul,
Bro. Johnson and Bro. Rodrigo) were given
the opportunity to learn how to operate the
Ultra Sound machine. This machine was kindly donated by the Knights of Columbus from Atlanta Georgia to the Holy Innocents Apostolate of the Missionaries of the Poor (MOP), Kingston.

What this machine does is first of all to show the mother and then to take pictures of the baby in the womb. It also allows the mother to hear the heart-beat of her unborn baby.

It was truly a day of joy and tears, as mothers left with pictures of their babies in hand to share with family and friends. I don't know who was more exited, the moms or us. Even Father Ho Lung got to participate.
This machine will be a very useful tool/weapon in our new ministry of trying to protect unborn babies in the mother's womb. It will allow the mothers to not only see their baby, but also to hear the heart-beat!

With God on our side, we pray that the mothers will appreciate the baby in their womb. A child is God's beautiful creature that is full of life and love. This insight into the truth will hopefully encourage the mothers to preserve and love the baby in their womb.

That is what Holy Innocents is all about, - reaching out to these moms/women offering them a different ending. We will be offering counseling for the pregnant women in crisis, along with spiritual support and Pre and Post Natal care. If need be we will offer lodging for the pregnant women. After the birth of the baby and if mom has to go to work/school, we will offer Daycare.

Oh! And we offer also our new evangelization weapon/partner, our Ultra Sound machine, which I think will be powerful in converting the hearts of mothers who are either confused or are being discouraged by others on the value of the life in their womb.

Remember a baby is the greatest gift that God gives. Let us always treasure this.

God bless,
Sr. Joanne Belmonte, M.O.P.
